Artist Dan Ford will present a slide lecture entitled "Spirits Kindred -- A Contemporary Artist Looks at the Hudson River School" at Olana, the historic homestead of the Hudson River School artist Frederic Edwin Church, on Friday, June 24, at 3 p.m. Ford will show selections from his body of work which draw upon the legacy of the painters of the Hudson River School, and illuminate the role art-historical influence plays in the working process and production of artists today.
The presentation will be followed by an artist and audience exchange, and is free and open to the public.
Dan Ford is a 2010 Artist Fellowship recipient of the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA). This presentation is co-sponsored by Artists and Audiences Exchange, a NYFA public program, funded with leadership support from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA).
